You need a student visa if you want to study full time in New Zealand for more than 3 months.

There are many different visas that let you study in New Zealand. You can go to school, take a short course, study for longer or do other training.

What visa you need depends on the duration of your study.

More than 3 months studying

If you want to study for more than 3 months, you’ll need a student visa.

To apply for a student visa, you’ll need an offer of place from a New Zealand education provider.

Less than 3 months studying

If you plan to study in New Zealand for less than 3 months, you must hold a temporary visa that allows you to study. This may be a visitor visa, an NZeTA, or a work visa.
