Fees free
When you have finished your study or training, you may be able to get your final year fees paid back to you.
Fees Free is ending 31 December 2026
People who complete their study or training in 2026 can still apply within 1 year of finishing (up to 31 December 2027).
Get your final year of fees back
Fees Free helps with the cost of your study or training by paying back the fees for either the:
- final year of your study
- final 2 years of your work-based learning, such as an apprenticeship.
This is only paid after you finish your study or training. You’ll have to pay your fees first and then apply for Fees Free to get your fees paid back.
If you have a student loan, your Fees Free will be paid to your loan. Even if you did not use your student loan to pay your final year fees — it’ll still be paid to your loan. If you do not have a student loan, it’ll be paid to your bank account.
Check your eligibility
You can only get Fees Free once, so if you have already received Fees Free — you cannot get it again. You need to start your final year on or after 1 January 2025 and you‘ll need to meet the eligibility criteria.
