  • issue licences to people who are fit and competent to give immigration advice
  • maintain competency standards and a code of conduct for immigration advisers
  • investigate people giving immigration advice without a licence or exemption
  • receive complaints from people who have received poor immigration advice.

They are part of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
