Keep your address up to date with the New Zealand Transport Authority (NZTA) so that you receive notices such licence renewal reminders.
You can update your address and other contact details online on NZTA’s website. You’ll need your NZ driver’s licence to do this.

If you’re changing a vehicle address and you do not have a NZ licence, you can still change the vehicle address by submitting an online form. You must be the registered person of the vehicle or have permission from the registered person.

If you want to get your driver’s licence in your new name, you need to apply in person at a NZTA licensing agent.

You need your licence, or other identity documents, and evidence of your name change, such as a marriage certificate.

Change the gender on your licence
Your gender is not printed on your licence, but it is held on the driver licence register. Your gender on the register is the gender you put on the last form you filled in.
If you’re filling in a new form, you can choose your gender on the form and the register will be updated.
Otherwise, you can contact NZTA to have your gender changed on the register.
