Social Investment Agency (SIA)

The Social Investment Agency seek to improve outcomes for people through the systematic, consistent, and rigorous use of data and evidence to invest earlier and more effectively.

The Social Investment Agency (SIA) is a central government agency established in 2024 to change how New Zealand invests in social outcomes.

SIA works across government to help shift the social services system from responding to crisis to investing earlier, supporting what works, and improving long-term outcomes.

SIA administers the Social Investment Fund and provides system leadership for the government's social investment approach. It supports new ways of commissioning and investing that are outcome-focused, evidence-informed and people-centred.

The Minister for Social Investment leads the social investment work programme with a group of Social Investment Ministers, supported by independent advice from the Social Investment Board.
