Te Tāhuhu o Te Mātauranga

The Ministry of Education is the Government’s lead advisor on the New Zealand education system. They:

  • support teachers, students and their families to raise educational achievement in schools
  • administer funding for pre-school services, schools and tertiary providers
  • provide special education services
  • license early childhood education providers
  • help schools function by providing property, transport and information technology services
  • gather and analyse data to inform decision-making in the education sector.
