Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga

Archives New Zealand Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga is the official guardian of New Zealand’s public archives. Their holdings include taonga such as the Treaty of Waitangi te Tiriti o Waitangi, government documents, maps, paintings, photographs and films.

As the government’s recordkeeping authority, Archives New Zealand administer the Public Records Act 2005 and promote good information management throughout government.

Archives New Zealand also provide access to their holdings through their 4 reading rooms and a remote reference service.​
