How do I get my organisation’s digital credential verified in the app?
The app can only verify credentials that are built to an agreed international standard and have provided the necessary level of trust information. Refer to the developer and technical support on GitHub for more information.
To have your organisation’s digital credential verifiable by NZ Verify — contact the Government Digital Delivery Agency (GDDA) NZVerifyApp@gdda.govt.nz.
What credentials can the app verify?
The app can currently verify:
United States mobile driver licences — Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Puerto Rico, Utah, Virginia.
Australia mobile driver licences — Queensland.
More credentials will be added as they become available.
Can foreign-issued credentials be used in New Zealand?
All existing laws continue to apply for both physical and digital credentials. The NZ Verify app does not change when or where they can be used.
The GDDA is working with other public agencies to identify legislative or regulatory changes needed to support wider use of digital identity credentials.
Can I use the app to hold or be issued a digital credential?
No. NZ Verify only verifies digital credentials — it does not store or issue them.
The Govt.nz app has a digital wallet that can hold your credentials.
