Climate Change Chief Executives Board
The board focuses on long-term climate strategy to ensure New Zealand stays on track to meet its commitments.
A key priority of the board is to provide advice on how to navigate the path towards Aotearoa New Zealand’s long-term climate change goals. This includes responding to challenges and taking opportunities as they arise.
The members of the board are jointly responsible to the Minister of Climate Change. They also advise the Climate Priorities Ministerial Group.
The board:
- monitors and reports on the delivery of actions in the emissions reduction plan (ERP) and national adaption plan (NAP)
- advises on the overall effectiveness and future direction of the 2 plans
- ensures domestic emissions budgets are met
- is responsible for Government Target 9: Reduced net greenhouse gas emissions.
