Find your local district court
New Zealand's 59 district courts deal with both criminal and civil matters. You can also pay fines at these courts.
Most criminal charges in NZ are heard in the District Court, either before a judge or by a jury trial.
Youth and Family Courts
Youth and Family Courts are part of the District Courts. Kids aged 12 to 16 who’ve committed a crime will only go to a Youth Court if the crime is serious and can't be dealt with by community Police.
The Family Court is a place where New Zealanders can get help with family problems and ensure children’s interests are represented.
