Paying for home insulation
Find out if you can get help to pay for home insulation through the Warmer Kiwi Homes programme.
What you can get
Grants to pay for two-thirds of the cost of ceiling and underfloor insulation, and ground vapour barriers.
Who can get it?
You must own and live in a home built before 2008.
And you must:
- have a Community Services Card or SuperGold combo card, or
- own and live in a home in an area that's lower-income. If you're not sure you live in a lower-income area, you can ask when you apply for the grant
- be referred by the Healthy Homes Initiative.
How to apply
You need to contact a company who installs insulation and is part of the Warmer Kiwi Homes programme. They can check you're eligible and help you through the process.
They're listed on the Energywise website.
If you can't get a grant, you might be able to add the cost of insulation to your mortgage or rates bill.
