Paying for home insulation
Find out if you can get help to pay for home insulation and an efficient, fixed heater through the Warmer Kiwi Homes programme.
What you can get
Warmer Kiwi Homes grants can pay for 90% of the cost of ceiling and underfloor insulation, as well as some heating options.
Who can get it?
You must own and live in a home built before 2008.
You must also:
- have a Community Services Card or SuperGold combo card, or
- own and live in a home in an area that’s lower-income.
If you’re not sure you live in a lower-income area, you can ask when you apply for the grant.
You will need to have ceiling and underfloor insulation installed to the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) standard before you will be eligible for a grant for heating options.
How to apply
Use the Warmer Kiwi Homes tool to find out if you are eligible and apply.
What happens next
If you get a grant, a company will contact you to arrange a visit to your home, to talk about the installation process.
If you cannot get a grant, you might be able to add the cost of insulation to your mortgage or rates bill.
