Find a marriage celebrant
Only registered celebrants can perform weddings or civil unions in New Zealand. You need to arrange your celebrant before you can get a marriage licence.
You can search for a celebrant by:
- church or organisation.
How much a celebrant charges is up to them — you pay them directly.
If you’re getting married at a registry office you will be married by a Registrar of Marriages — you don’t need to find your own celebrant.
